There is way more than 1 ounce of ice melt going on in the glass in that situation, but we will still be frugal by saying only 1 ounce of ice melt is going into the volume of the drink. I have sipped Painkiller cocktails on a sunny beach.
Let’s assume there is at least bare minimum 1 ounce of ice melt between shaking the ingredients and consuming the drink. This is a 7 ounce drink shaken over ice and then served over ice. There are 2 ounces of 42% ABV Pusser’s Rum in the drink. I think it is rather perplexing when I see the Painkiller cocktail on restaurant bar menus with the notation “limit 2 per customer.” Somehow there is this idea that the Painkiller cocktail is overflowing with alcohol. It adds aroma and yummy nutty spice to this delicious cocktail. Don’t skimp on that generous sprinkle of nutmeg. Shake this cocktail! Get a little foamy goodness going on the top.
